Check.jpgNEW LASER SCAN FILTER - MINIMUM NUMBER OF POINTS REQUIRED IN LASER STRIPES

Previous versions of VTube-LASER had no minimum point count per laser stripe. However, it helps to remove any LASER stripe that doesn't have enough data - because that often signals outlier points.

You can experiment with larger numbers to have a greater culling effect if you experience lone outliers.

The new value can be entered and adjusted in the MEASURE SETUP / LASER tab menu. In this example, we entered "40" points required.

The default minimum is now 5 points per stripe.

If you set the MINIMUM point count value in row 18 so that it is equal to or greater than the MAXIMUM count value in row 8, then no data will enter VTube-LASER, and VTube-LASER will play the LASER SCAN FILTER sound when you attempt a scan (see the new feature below).

Check.jpgNEW - LASER SCAN FILTER SOUND

In previous versions of VTube-LASER, the scanning sound goes silent if the SCAN BUTTON is pressed and no scan data is entering VTube-LASER.

In this version, if the scan button is pressed and all scanned data is removed by the filter, or no data is incoming because the scanner is out of range, then the LASER SCAN FILTER sound will play.

Watch the video on the right to see how this new feature works.

There are two conditions that will trigger the LASER SCAN FILTER sound:

  1. All incoming scan data is being removed by one of the filters (One of the Cut Planes or the new Minimum Point Count Per Laser Stripe value - see above.)

  2. The scanner is out of range of all surfaces.

Check.jpgNEW - PRESS ACCEPT BUTTON WITHOUT AIMING AT THE PART

VTube-LASER operators know that previous versions of VTube-LASER require that you aim the LASER scanner at the part when you press the accept button at the end of a scan.

  • For the ROMER scanner, this is one of the two side buttons.
  • For the FARO scanner, this is the red button.

We redesigned the scanning engine so it no longer requires this in-range scanning position.

As of this version, VTube-LASER will watch for and react to the accept button press even if no laser data is incoming.

Check.jpgNEW - HERBER Bender Corrections Through a Network (VTube-LASER Only)

We added and tested HERBER MES file correction support that allows VTube-LASER to correct HERBER benders through a network connection automatically.

Bender corrections only work through VTube-LASER. (Not VTube-STEP)

See VTube HERBER Bender Correction (MES Protocol)

Check.jpgNEW - HERBER Bender Setup From Solid Model Through a Network (VTube-LASER or VTube-STEP)

We added the HERBER SOL file protocol that allows VTube-LASER to send NEW data to the HERBER benders through a network connection.

Use this new feature to import solid models into HERBER bender controls.

Bender setup for the HERBER works through either VTube-LASER or VTube-STEP

Check.jpgNEW - VTUBE-LASER TUNED TO WORK WITH THE NEW FARO 6.1.2.7 USB DRIVER

FARO USB driver 6.1.2.7 is a rewrite of the USB driver. It has many improvements that are very much worthwhile - like the scanner calibration is much improved.

However, this new driver sends tactile probe data at a much higher rate than previous FARO USB drivers. This version of VTube-LASER is tuned to handle the new data rates.

Check.jpgOTHER CHANGES

  • VTube-STEP could give a list index error when loading the Assembly Control window. This has been fixed.
