The CONSTANT ON feature is used to place the the hydraulic and pneumatic valves in a constant energize state. For example, if you were to want the clamp to close and continue to energize in the closed position, then the the CONSTANT ON should be enabled.

Use the CONSTANT ON button to change the engergize mode of outputs controlled by the jog menus. The button is located in the Manual/Jogs 1 menu. Pressing this button will switch the mode between energize or de-energize. When the button is down, the mode is "energize". The yellow LED next to the button is a quick visual reference to the state of the mode.

What occurs when the CONSTANT ON button is up

When the button is UP, the mode is "de-energize." In this mode, the output jogs will occur using programmable timer values. The timer values are set in the Options menu (see below) of the Manual page. For example, a timer value may be set to 250 milliseconds. In this case, an output will be activated for 1/4 of a second when a jog button is pressed, then set to its de-energized mode.

Often, CNC Bender will allow you to set the jog+ and jog- timer values separately. This is because often actuators open at a different speed than they close.

Adjusting the timer values

Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the timer values for the jog motion because the actuator may move either too far or not far enough when the operator presses the jog+ or jog- buttons.

In the example shown below, the CLAMP ADVANCE TIMER value is set to 250 milliseconds. Assume that the value is too high for the bender. The motion of the clamp actuator completely closes the clamp with a single press of the jog+ button. To make the timer move the clamp only part of the way to the closed position, we can lower the timer value. In this example, we enter the Options menu and decrease the value to 50 milliseconds.

After these steps are complete, be sure the CONSTANT ON button is UP, then press the JOG+ button to test the new time. Even if the clamp does not move, you should still hear a sound of the valves energizing very quickly. Continue to adjust the value until the clamp moves in the increments that work for you.
